Today I had my first "surgery". I had a cyst removed on my shoulder. It was just a 30 minute thing- no biggie. But I have learned that I am rather pathetic. Let me explain...

Today, I was sitting in the chair- the nice ladies had given me the anesthesia and were working on my shoulder. I did not look. I do not like needles, blood, stitching, etc. I told them I would not be looking for the aforementioned reason. They said okay. I did not feel or see anything. (special thanks to Bethany who warned me not to look at their goggles cuz they show a reflection of the incision) Fifteen or so minutes into the procedure the room started spinning and I got all hot and sweaty. I contemplated toughing it out, keeping quiet, but i have done that before and it has ended badly-very badly (that is a story I can only tell in private). And so I told them I was feeling dizzy. And they said I was white as a ghost. So- up go my feet above my head and in comes the nurse with a candy bar. What the heck is wrong with me? I had eaten breakfast, so I was not hungry. The doctor told me she was going to keep working, because I would probably feel better when the whole thing was over. And when it was done and I had finished my Baby Ruth, I was totally fine. I drove home and Jamie got me my lunch and everything was honky dory. I am a medical procedure mental midget. (Abby, I should have had you come and hold my hand) But I will give myself props..I did not actually pass out and I did not cry.

Nice, we have a whole conversation last night and I never even asked how you were doing, to find out that you had had a "procedure." Nice friend I am! And by the way, we can be medical mental midgets together--I have fainted or nearly passed out more times than I can count. I remember a little story about ear piercing that will haunt me forever...

oh i have also had my share of passing out once with a broken pinky finger and one other time when i was 13. there was a boy who asked me to go to a farm show. and i had to call him and tell him i couldnt go cause well i just didnt like him. but i had never called a boy before at that point in my life and got really really nervous. before i called him i was making scrambled eggs and all of sudden everything started spinning and i got really hot. and down i went on our kitchen floor passed out cold. kind of funny how we can work ourselved up so much over something we think is so big. hope you are laughin at this point. hope you are living up the work at home sounds like its a perfect answer from God. miss ya, gobbs

you and Josh have some very similar reactions towards procedures. He had a cyst removed last year from his back and it was quite the dramatic situation...in a manley, tough way. :)

So, I have your invite to mail to you for Glenny's sixtieth, but once again I don't have your danged address. I know...this i the gajillionth time I have asked for it.

Rreminds me of the classic gretchen story where she cuts her hand trying to be a candle doctor if I'm not mistaken. She tries to hide it from Jamie (whos on the phone with Cliff when it all goes down) and passes out.

Well done Gretchen!!
