Despite my normal routine of hibernating in the winter, the girls and I went on an outing last night to the Richardson Nature Center in Bloomington. As is typical me, I came across a flyer advertising that this week is "BLIK" or Bloomington Loves Its Kids week. These events are hit or miss--more often than not they are kind of cheesy and boring, but last night was a winner. Isabelle was in learning heaven with animal puppets and tiny turtles. And Macie just kept saying "oh--what's sat?". And Tori, well, Tori pet a snake--didn't even think twice about it. Who is this child?

So, they had hot chocolate and cookies, made a craft, saw a live owl, falcon and some other bird I can't remember (owls are so cute by the way), they pet a turtle and a snake and I was the coolest mom in the world (well, until I made them go to bed then my cool status plummeted). The only fun thing we did not do was go on a snow shoe walk (it was a little chilly for that)...but I will be going back to do that if we ever break into the 30's, because how fun is that? And did I mention it is all FREE--Here is to new discoveries!

I've been in major hibernation mode the past month and a half. I feel bad for the kids cuz there's stuff to do around here, but I just haven't done any research since our tons of outings around the holidays...okay I'll go look now...=)

you are super mom... yet again.

Macie says things such as "wats dat?" Does that just all of the sudden happen because she is only a few months ahead of Silas boy and I don't feel like that will be coming out of his mouth anytime soon. Maybe I am wrong.. Josh just told me I am wrong.

Hey super-mom,
I was homeschooled through grade school. ONe of the only times I got out to talk to real people was when we would do homeschool group outings to the nature center. We home schoolers LOVED the nature center. The owls never made fun of the fact that I wore a purple sweat suit. The Snakes never laughed at me for not knowing who Milli Vanilli was and then trying to sing Carman songs to fit in. Owls and snakes are nice and fun. I'm glad Tori pet the snake and I'm glad Bloomington loves it's kids.

Tori is braver than me! I could NEVER touch a snake. I think I tried as a kid (at Woodlake Nature Center in Richfield... if you're ever up for a new nature center!) but i chickened out.

oh... and why hibernate? winter is so great. my childhood memories are of frostbitten toes, wearing zip-lock bags on the feet (you know, gotta keep them dry!) and playing on piles of snow that my dad shoveled from the driveway and sidewalks. you live in MN, embrace the cold and snow!
